Job Summary:

The Cashier is responsible for handling all customer payments accurately and efficiently, issuing receipts, and maintaining proper cash records. The role requires honesty, attentiveness, and a friendly attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Transaction Management
    • Process all sales transactions (cash, POS, and transfers) accurately and efficiently.
    • Verify prices, discounts, and quantities before billing customers.
    • Issue receipts and balance cash drawers at the end of each shift.
    • Ensure all sales entries are properly recorded in the system.
  2. Customer Service
    • Attend to customers promptly and courteously at the checkout point.
    • Answer simple product or price inquiries and direct customers to sales reps when necessary.
    • Maintain a pleasant attitude and uphold the store’s customer-first culture.
  3. Cash and Payment Control
    • Count and verify cash float at the start and end of each shift.
    • Record all payment modes (cash, POS, transfer) accurately.
    • Report any discrepancies or suspicious transactions immediately to the Store Manager or Accountant.
    • Ensure safe handling of all cash until remittance.
  4. Sales Coordination
    • Work closely with sales representatives to confirm and validate customer orders before payment. 
    • Assist in preparing daily sales summaries and remittance reports.
  5. Record Keeping and Reporting
    • Maintain daily transaction records and reconcile with system reports.
    • Submit end-of-day cash reports and POS slips to the Accounts Department.
    • Support management in periodic sales audits or cash reviews.
  6. Cleanliness and Conduct
    • Keep the cashier’s desk neat, organized, and presentable at all times.
    • Display professionalism, patience, and courtesy even during busy hours.
    • Uphold confidentiality in handling customer and financial information.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of OND or equivalent in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Prior experience as a cashier or front-desk sales clerk in retail..
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and POS systems.
  • High numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Trustworthy, punctual, and disciplined.

Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Accuracy of daily cash balance and transaction reports.
  • Timeliness of end-of-day remittances.
  • Customer satisfaction and checkout efficiency.
  • Compliance with cash handling procedures.
  • Zero record of cash shortages or mismanagement.
